Smith Reservoir

Smith Reservoir, located near Belknap Springs in the central Oregon Cascades, is a small, high-elevation impoundment integral to the Carmen-Smith Hydroelectric Project. Angling techniques are straightforward, targeting stocked trout: static bait presentations with PowerBait or worms; dynamic spin-casting with spinners or spoons; or slow trolling from smaller watercraft. Optimal fishing occurs late spring through early summer, coinciding with road accessibility and peak stocking. Access is often challenging via rough forest roads, with unimproved boat launches contingent on water levels.
