Parker Canyon Lake

Parker Canyon Lake, a 130-acre reservoir in southeastern Arizona’s Canelo Hills, provides diverse and accessible fishing opportunities at 5,400 feet elevation. Located near Sierra Vista, the lake is stocked with rainbow trout by AZGFD from fall through spring. Anglers catch trout using PowerBait, worms, or spinners, especially near the dam and boat ramp.

Warm-season fishing includes largemouth bass, catfish, and sunfish. Bass are active in shallow coves and structure-rich areas, with soft plastics and topwater lures being effective. Catfish action peaks in the evenings with cut bait or stink bait, and panfish offer steady action from docks and shoreline spots.

The lake features a developed boat ramp, store, and a campground with RV sites and tent spaces. Boats with up to 10 hp motors are permitted, and the calm waters are ideal for kayaks and canoes. Year-round fishing makes Parker Canyon a reliable destination, though trout fishing is best from November through April.

Wildlife sightings are frequent, and birdwatchers will appreciate the presence of eagles, osprey, and waterfowl. Hiking trails nearby add to the recreational appeal.

Anglers must follow statewide regulations, and bag limits apply for trout, bass, and sunfish. With its high desert location, amenities, and consistent fishing, Parker Canyon Lake is one of southern Arizona’s top freshwater destinations.
