Fools Hollow Lake

Show Low · Arizona

Lake Freshwater
Fools Hollow Lake in Show Low, AZ, is a versatile, 150-acre fishery offering high-quality opportunities for both coldwater and warmwater species. Managed by Arizona State Parks, the lake sits at 6,300 feet and supports rainbow trout, channel catfish, walleye, smallmouth and largemouth bass, crappie, and sunfish.

Rainbow trout are stocked during cooler months and are most active in spring and fall. Anglers using PowerBait, worms, and small lures do well near the dam and coves. Trout can be caught from both boat and bank.

During warmer months, bass and catfish become more active. Smallmouth and largemouth bass inhabit rocky points and structure, responding to soft plastics and crankbaits. Channel catfish are targeted with cut bait, liver, or commercial dough bait near deeper areas.

Walleye, a notable feature at Fools Hollow, are targeted early or late with jigs, crankbaits, or minnows. Crappie and bluegill offer additional action near brush or submerged cover.

Boating is allowed with no horsepower limit, and amenities include multiple ramps, fishing piers, and full-service campgrounds. The lake is open year-round.

Fools Hollow Lake is a model Arizona fishery—diverse, scenic, and well-managed—offering something for every angler, from family outings to serious multi-species pursuits.
