Francis Short Pond

Francis Short Pond, a 1.5-acre urban fishery located in Thorpe Park, Flagstaff, AZ, is a seasonally stocked community pond that offers convenient access to rainbow trout and panfish in a scenic, family-oriented setting. Managed by the Arizona Game and Fish Department, the pond is stocked with trout from March through October, with fish typically ranging from 10 to 14 inches.

Trout are caught using PowerBait, worms, and small spinners, particularly near the ADA-accessible fishing dock, which is a prime area for post-stocking success. The pond also supports naturally reproducing bluegill and sunfish, which become more active during the summer months. These panfish respond well to worms, mealworms, and small jigs, especially under a bobber.
