Lake Mohave

Lake Mohave, a linear reservoir spanning the Colorado River between Davis and Hoover Dams, is a highly diverse and productive fishery. This impoundment, characterized by clear waters and extensive canyon topography, sustains robust populations of Striped Bass (Morone saxatilis), Largemouth Bass (Micropterus salmoides), Smallmouth Bass (Micropterus dolomieu), Channel Catfish (Ictalurus punctatus), and Rainbow Trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss), particularly in its cooler northern reaches. The Nevada Department of Wildlife (NDOW) and Arizona Game and Fish Department (AZGFD) jointly manage this shared resource.

Angling methodologies are highly diversified. Striped Bass are effectively pursued through trolling large artificial lures, jigging, or live bait presentations. Bass species respond to various artificial lures near rocky structures and submerged cover. Catfish are primarily targeted by bottom-fishing with natural or prepared baits. Rainbow Trout are caught near cooler water inflows utilizing PowerBait, worms, or small spinners. Optimal fishing periods are perennially available, with peak activity for warmwater predators during spring and fall. Water levels are typically stable. Access from Cottonwood Cove is comprehensive, featuring a full-service marina and boat launch facilities.
