Agate Lake

Medford · Oregon

Lake Freshwater
Just a short drive from Medford, Agate Lake is a hidden gem for anglers seeking a quiet, scenic spot to cast a line. This 216-acre reservoir is known for its calm waters, electric-motor-only boating, and a healthy mix of both stocked and naturally reproducing fish species.

Each year, ODFW enhances the lake’s fishery by stocking rainbow trout, including some impressive trophy-sized specimens. These trout are most active in spring and fall, especially near the western shoreline and boat ramp. As summer sets in, warmwater species like largemouth bass, bluegill, crappie, and yellow perch take center stage. Bass anglers do well with soft plastics and topwater lures, while panfish are easily caught with jigs or worms—perfect for introducing kids to fishing.

Agate Lake is open year-round during daylight hours, with no parking fees and basic amenities like a boat ramp and vault toilets. Anglers should consult the
