Baker Reservoir

Brookside · Utah

Lake Freshwater
Baker Reservoir, located near Brookside in southern Utah, is a 55-acre coldwater fishery stocked regularly with rainbow trout and home to naturally reproducing brown trout. This small, spring-fed reservoir offers year-round trout fishing in a tranquil desert-forest transition zone.

Rainbow trout are most active from fall through early spring and are easily caught on bait, lures, and flies. Fly anglers use leeches, zebra midges, and woolly buggers with success, while conventional anglers prefer PowerBait or worms along the dam and inlet.

Brown trout are wild and harder to target but offer a chance at larger fish, especially in the fall. Shore access is excellent, and small non-motorized watercraft can be hand-launched, although no formal boat ramp exists.

Water levels vary seasonally based on irrigation use, and visitors should check conditions before visiting. There are no on-site campgrounds, but dispersed camping is available nearby.

Baker Reservoir is managed under general Utah fishing regulations with a four-trout limit. Ice fishing is possible in cold winters, depending on ice safety.

With its peaceful setting, regular trout stocking, and good shore access, Baker Reservoir is an excellent option for anglers in southern Utah seeking a reliable and low-pressure fishery.
