Becker Lake

Springerville · Arizona

Lake Freshwater
Becker Lake, near Springerville, is Arizona’s top catch-and-release fly-fishing-only trout fishery, covering 107 acres at 6,900 feet elevation. Managed under special regulations, anglers may use barbless artificial flies and lures only, and all trout must be released unharmed.

The lake supports trophy rainbow and Apache trout, with many fish exceeding 18 inches. Fly fishers use woolly buggers, leeches, midges, and damselfly nymphs. Float tubes and small craft with electric motors are common, though shore anglers also find success.

Becker’s clear, vegetated water supports a healthy trout population year-round. Facilities include a boat ramp and vault toilets. Camping is not available on-site, but nearby Springerville provides lodging and supplies.

For serious fly anglers, Becker Lake offers a premier experience focused on conservation and trophy trout potential.
