Cutler Reservoir, located west of Logan in Cache County, is a sprawling warmwater fishery known for channel catfish, white bass, crappie, and occasional walleye. This shallow, marsh-fringed reservoir offers year-round access and is especially popular in spring and summer.
Channel catfish are the main attraction, with anglers using cut bait or chicken liver in backwaters and slow current. Fish over 20 inches are common during warmer months. White bass provide fast action in late spring, schooling near drop-offs and flats. Small jigs and crankbaits produce steady bites.
Crappie fishing is best in spring near submerged wood and weeds. Use light tackle with jigs or live minnows. Walleye are present in lower numbers and are occasionally caught trolling or jigging near structure.
Access points include Cutler Dam and Benson Marina. Due to the marshy shoreline, shore fishing is limited, but boating and kayaking are excellent ways to reach productive spots. Weed growth can be thick by mid-summer.
Cutler Reservoir is not a trout lake, but it offers action and variety for warmwater anglers. Its mix of catfish, white bass, and panfish make it a reliable destination for family outings or anglers looking for something different in northern Utah.
