East Canyon Reservoir

Coalville · Utah

Lake Freshwater
East Canyon Reservoir near Coalville is a 608-acre trophy fishery in East Canyon State Park. Lake trout dominate, reaching 15–30 pounds. Troll deep with downriggers, sinking lines, or lead-core gear using spoons or tube jigs in spring and fall.

Rainbows average 12–18 inches and are stocked annually. Trolling spoons or using PowerBait from shore near creek arms and the marina can be productive. Splake add variety, often caught alongside lake trout.

During midsummer, kokanee invade the shallows—troll small dodgers and hoochies at 40–60 feet for fast action.

Panfish and bass thrive near weedlines and boat ramps, easy to catch on worms or small lures.

The park supports anglers with ramps, marinas, campsites, and restrooms. Gas motors are allowed but wakeless zones apply. Wind can disrupt fishing midday, so early or late fishing is best.

East Canyon is a scenic, well-supported fishery for trophy trout and multi-species action.
