Utah Lake

Utah Lake, located near Provo, is Utah’s largest freshwater lake and a prime warmwater fishing destination. Popular species include channel catfish, white bass, walleye, largemouth bass, carp, and bluegill.

Channel catfish are abundant and actively bite on cut bait, chicken liver, and shrimp throughout the warmer months. White bass provide fast-paced action from late spring through early fall and respond well to jigs, crankbaits, and spinners.

Largemouth bass are found in vegetated bays like Provo Bay and respond to spinnerbaits and soft plastics. Walleye are present in lower numbers but can be caught using crankbaits or jigs near rocky structures or current areas.

The lake has multiple public access points including Provo Boat Harbor, Lindon Marina, and American Fork Harbor. Water levels and clarity can vary seasonally, so anglers should check conditions before visiting.

Fishing is governed by general Utah regulations. The lake is suitable for both boat and shore anglers and offers opportunities for both casual outings and species-specific targeting.
